Marina Information

General Information

In addition to the boat slips and boat-launching ramp, the Beacon's Reach marina facilities include two fenced boat storage areas, one adjacent to the marina and one located behind the administrative offices. Use of any of these facilities requires a decal provided by the Dockmaster. The Marina facilities and staffing are paid for entirely by usage fees. For the 2008 season, fees are as follows:

Slip rental only$550/year
Trailer/Boat storage$200/year
Rack storage (canoe/kayak/sailboard etc.)$75/year
Slip rental from Dockmaster$25/night

Payment of one or more of the above fees is required in order to obtain a decal and to use the ramp. There is no per-usage fee for the ramp. Since there are not enough boat slips to be able to provide permanent slips for all owners who wish to use them, a first-come-first-served waiting list is maintained. There are approximately 120 names on the waiting list. Owners wishing to get on the waiting list should contact the administrative office at (252) 247-4017. A slip rental system is also available by which the Dockmaster can rent out slips during periods when they are not in use.

There is presently enough space in the boat yards to support all owners wishing to use them. Spaces are assigned by the Dockmaster. Spaces in Lot B (behind the Administrative office) are numbered, and users should be careful to ONLY use their assigned space. Spaces in Lot A (adjacent to the marina) are allocated in an ad-hoc manner (subject to control of the Dockmaster, and only for boats and trailers with current decals).

Ice is also available at the Snakery building at the marina on an HONOR SYSTEM price of $2.00 per bag (pay-as-you-go, no exceptions!).

The Dockmaster, David Shapiro, will be on duty (at the marina snack bar) during these hours effective through September 30, 2008:

Friday: 1-5pm
Saturday: 9am-6pm
Sunday: 9am-6pm
Monday: 10am-2pm

Dockmaster Phone (with answering machine): (252) 247-6077.

Meet Dock Master David Shapiro

Beacon's Reach is fortunate to have an outstanding Dockmaster to manage marina activities.

Dave Shapiro says he always loved to be around boats and boaters while growing up at the Jersey shore (it's the "shore" there, not the "beach"!). Dave and his wife Mary Ann now live on Yaupon Drive in Pine Knoll Shores, following his retirement from a 31-year career with Lucent Technology.
